Dr. Scott Underwood, PMP is an experienced and trusted data professional located in Saint John, NB, Canada. His career focus has been programming, database development, data engineering, architecture, integrations, warehousing, analytics, governance, and now AI. Scott’s career started with IT consulting work while at university in 1994. From there, he has worked through roles in IT including website and application development, project management, team management and leadership using many different technologies and methodologies along the way. He utilizes Agile through most projects and operational management, earning his PMP in 2012.
He has lead teams responsible for administrating enterprise data governance platforms, data warehousing, Master Data Management, integrations, and analytics. He has been responsible for establishing data governance policies aimed at keeping enterprises complaint with global data regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA. He has successfully lead organizations through the remediation of failed internal data audits by implementing metadata management policies and procedures.
Scott earned his Doctor of Business Administration (D.BA) in 2017. He teaches an MBA course at UNBSJ titled Data Analytics for Effective Problem Solving. He used this career to study and utilize AI. Scott has built agents in CoPilot and ChatGPT serving multiple purposes such as a virtual assistant for the students, and a data analyst capable of providing insights from uploaded data. Scott also serves various other academic roles including an academic reviewer of paper submissions for international data conferences and committee member of post graduate candidate's thesis.
